Today a ‘Happy Anniversary’ message arrived from WordPress to commemorate two years on the blog. I’m not exactly sure where the last two years have gone, but I do know this: October is here, New York has me on speed dial, and I fly there on Saturday.
New York calls my name often, but in October, the city that never sleeps beckons even more loudly for me than any other time of year. Central Park is magical in her shades of autumn glory. Favourite haunts with strong coffee, vegan delicacies and characters galore await at every turn. Good friends, amazing energy, and a walking wonderland await.
Having an adventure like this to look forward to reminds me how good it feels to be alive. All my senses are in overdrive, anticipation has fired my imagination, electric energy is coursing through my veins. This is how New York feels to me. Every single time.
I will spend time with friends who make me laugh and who listen not only to my words, but recognize what my heart is saying. I am enrolled in writing workshops and plan to attend creative development classes, and pretty much anything woo-woo and eclectic I can find – not a difficult task in NYC! I intend to stroll Manhattan neighborhoods, hang in Brooklyn coffee establishments, and explore new places at every opportunity. This is my happy place.
I wish all of you a wonderful autumn equinox. May you spend it in a place and in a way that nourishes and sustains you. Whatever that looks like for you.
